It was late afternoon in an early November day back in Y2K and I had been patiently waiting for the last people to leave Delicate Arch. The sun had plunged behind dense clouds to the west and a storm had been thundering across the eastern boundary of Arches NP for quite a while, getting closer and closer to where I stood.
